Started to put this in to "Tips and Tricks," but it isn't a trick, or all that much of a tip either.
Seems like a bunch of folks are having problems with upgrades because of differences between PCL and Granular. In a way this is a "good" thing because it shows clearly how much Granular is gradually forking away from the original PCLinuxOS base.
But anyway, after you refresh Synaptic do not just hit the "apply all upgrades" button. If you do you'll undoubtedly experience problems as have been mentioned throughout the forums. Instead mark each upgrade you want installed individually. DO NOT upgrade a Granular package with a PCL package. If it really does need upgrading the Granular devs will get to it in short order. So just be patient. In some instances you'll find that the "latest" PCL package will be shown as an upgrade to the very same Granular package that's already installed. For obvious reasons, don't "upgrade" these, you'll only get a headache.
Since the RC will be out soon probably the best advice would be that old adage, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
