There should be a 2d cad pclos package out there. I believe it's called qcad, and I think it works ok. It's been a long time since I
looked at it. We don't get too many requests for cad programs.  ;)

That works, I had deleted the PCLOS repositories from my synapptic, so I'll add a couple back in and look for it.

Yes, It is. I need CAD Program very much. So far, I use AutoCAD in my Windows PC.
One reason to make us so difficult to leave windows is about CAD Program.

Anyone knows the really good & free CAD for Linux? Especially which able to work well in GranularLinux.

I have to admit, finding a "free" CAD software is rather difficult, (even on Linux), because this is such a profitable field.
In my honest opinion, the best CAD software to run on Linux, is Maya which is a commercial software and has a price-tag but, it is still cheaper than 90% of the fully functional CAD software out there, at around $3500.00.

here's some nice info on Maya

For the best of the "free" CADs... I would choose BRL-CAD

here is a quick list:

But... I also came across this one. Not sure how it is (I might check it out)

MacGyver:
Have you tried running your CAD program on WINE or CrossOver? Granted, WINE is completely free where as CrossOver requires a paid subscription.

Piki,

When I run AutoCad from Wine. It means I still must install Windows and AutoCAD under Windows right? It means I still must buy for Windows Licence & AutoCAD licence right?

I still don't want to buy this very expensive licence. If so, It will be better to work totaly under windows.

Piki on October 24, 2009, 11:35:08 AM
You don't have to install Winblows to use WINE, that is the purpose of WINE is to make Winblows programs install and run under Linux without Winblows. It isn't perfect, but it will run many programs. The only time you'd need to buy a license for Winblows is if you'd need to copy a file (such as a DLL file) from Winblows that WINE doesn't include by default. If you don't need to copy any files from Winblows to run your program, no license necessary, no money spent :-D . One way to get around needing to buy a license is if Winblows comes preinstalled on your computer (I notice you're posting from Winblows XP, is that your computer?). If Winblows comes preinstalled, you are obviously paying for the license when you get the computer, which means that you can run the DLL files anyway.

I found a couple pages to help you out. It looks like you don't need any DLL files, so you should be good, though how well AutoCAD will run, I don't know.

Nice find, Piki. In fact, AutoCAD 2008 has a bronze rating at Wine AppDb:

MacGyver, chances are you'll comfortably  be able to install and run AutoCAD under Wine. By the way, Granular 1.0 comes pre-installed with Wine.

Check this out if in doubt on how to use Wine:
