So, after 4 years, the Euro football tournament is back. I like the football game, so I am watching Euro 2008 these days.

My favorite teams are Germany and France and these are the ones I am supporting. Although I miss England in this tournament, this hasn't stopped me from watching the other matches, of course. The matches are aired quite late at night, here in India, but there is nothing stopping me.

If you have missed the initial matches, here is my brief report:

1. Germany are in form. I am happy.
2. France wasn't able to play at its usual level in their first match, but I believe they will hit back.
3. With 2 wins, Portugal is already in the quarterfinal and have strengthened their position as the tournament favorites.
4. One of the hosts - Switzerland have been knocked out of the Euro cup.
5. World champions Italy faced a shameful defeat to The Netherlands.

What's your analysis or thoughts about Euro 2008?

What a pity the Aussies aren't playing..  ;)

They nearly beat Italy in the World Cup, but the Italians cheated, by feigning a foul... >:(

From there, the Socceroos could have easily gone on to knock off the pathetic French team....and win the Cup..8)

But too much European GATE Money was riding on the outcome, to have a rank bunch of Aussie amateur underdogs beat the world class prima donnas of France, Germany and Italy..

Anyway,

If you want to really get into some great football, then consider watching Aussie Rules Football..

It's far more exciting, and you get more bang for your buck... :D

I saw every match of Australia in the WC 2006. They really were the underdogs and were looking all impressive to reach at least the semis. Believe me, I was a bit disappointed when they were unluckily knocked out of the tournament.  :(

Speaking  of accents. I went to a concert tonight featuring a band from my youth, "Ten Years After" a great British band, I love their song "If I Could Change The World". Anyway when they talk they sound very British, when they sing, they sound very much like we do here in the United States. Puzzles me, how come all British bands sound American? For that matter so do Australians when they sing.

I have noted this as well.

It is an interesting phenomena.

No doubt someone will get a big fat grant to do a PhD on the topic..... ;)
