If you plan a DVD addition of your software I'd like to suggest some software packages that I've found other places that have been developed.

(1) Lazarus (pascal compiler)
(2) Sky Charts (Cartes Du Ciel)  Planetaruim program much more detailed than 'Kstars'
(3) LightZone. . . The 'free' Linux version with no bars added graphics package that can compliment 'Gimp'
(4) Hugin . ..Panorama maker for digital photographers. . . 7.0 beta 4 out now. . .being further developed for release this summer as a completed package for Linux.

That's it for now. . .

I'm running these packages now with your software. . . It is indeed very nice. ( I had PClinuxOS) on one of my machines and I'm continually toying with Linux Distro's. Your knockoff of PCLinuxOS  has indeed better graphics installed. Also I notice that the Partitioning of the Hard Drives during install didn't require a reboot like PCLinuxOS before it started it's partition work. Yours started from the getgo. . . Very good.

Well, yes, a DVD version of Granular is in planning. We'll see if we could make grls for the apps you have requested.

Hello Richard,

Yes, I would like to second that.

Lightzone is a very useful bit of software, and all the more remarkable in that the Linux version is being offered "Free" while the otherwise "commercial" versions (Windows and Mac) which are identical; cost a quite a few dollars.

Respectfully

Can you elaborate your problem a bit more. What kind of errors are you faced with while installing LightZone?

After installation I read the Message '' Succesfull installed, You can see the Lightzone-Icon im Menu-Other ''.

But I don't see any Icon im Menu-Other and I can't find it in all Granular-Folders.

For the icon to appear in the Menu, it is sometimes required to log out and log back in of KDE after the installation is complete, as you would do in case of RPMs. Also, it is strictly required to install the GRL packages through root account. Installing then in a regular user account may lead in a  corrupt installation.

If you have installed it in any account other than root, then remove it with the granular -r command and then re-install it while logged into root.

I've installed/tested it a several times on my PC and another computer. The installation went as a breeze. Try one more time with the method described above (in my last post).

Which command I need in Console as Root the Package lightzone-2.4.grl to the installation ?

The command is:

Code: [Select]
sudo granular
I prefer that you install it through the GUI way. Here are the instructions: http://www.granularproject.org/packages/installation-instructions/
