These topics, and articles will pop up for ever. But I really just have a hard time with it. Why do people believe there should be
only one?? Especially Red Hat at that  ??? ??? From a desktop perspective there are better products out there. So if there were only
one, and it were RH, I bet there would be a lot of lost users as well. I know my first stop would be BSD.  ;)

I guess that Oracle guy wanted to make his statement with the business perspective in his mind. His thought was probably like as there is just one Windows, one Mac, why not one Linux? Maybe, according to him, having just one company responsible for Linux would bring in more users?

yeah you're probably right on the money. Just the thought of only one linux distro disturbs me.
I don't think it will ever happen, but you never know.

Reminds me of the Lord of the Rings...

"One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all, And in the darkness bind them."

Who needs the burden of choice?? It's too darn confusing anyway... :P

That's the really funny thing, I think this is their version of choice.

I just always thought of choice being more than one thing to consider.  :D :D

Yep..

Sometimes too much choice is as bad as not enough choice...

Do you remember the film "Moscow on the Hudson"...?

Where Robin Wiiliams as a Russian refugee faints in a shopping aisle after having been overwhelmed by the choice of hundreds of brands of Breakfast flakes.....?

 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
