I have not noticed a comment on Gnewsense so I thought I would say something. I downloaded it a couple days ago and ran it. I had no problem with the live CD but did not install it. This is an Ubuntu based OS and it is very obvious that it has Ubuntu roots and I'm not saying that because I do not like Ubuntu, I do like it. My question to the team that put it together though would be Why??? It looks and feels so much like Ubuntu to me that I see no difference in the two other than a logo and a name. I do really like the logo.
Keep breathing, it is all you really have

I haven't tried it...but I cannot help but be reminded of the word 'Nuisance'..

Perhaps the name they have chosen is in effect, a Freudian slip.... ;)

I have not tried this one, and given some of the thoughts here, and some other things I have read eleswhere. I think I'll take a pass on it as well.
I have never been comfortable running the Ubuntu's. And It sounds to be similar enough I might pass on it.

gNewSense is a free-software-only distro based off Ubuntu. They do not include anything restricted by legal issues like patents, etc.
I like the philosophical idea behind it, but it still needs time and work. I heard Canonical is going to discontinue gobuntu (their free-software-only variant) and merge it with gNewSense. That should be interesting.

On a side note, the BLAG distro has discovered that there's non-free drivers and tidbits in the unmodified kernel and has removed them in their distro.

It would be interesting to see the merger of GNewsense and Gobuntu, as since the beginning I have felt that both of these are based on the same philosophy (and the same distro, of course ;) ).
