hi all, I have a question : I got an audigy 2 nx usb (usb in and optical out) creative. using neroshowtime or windvd with windows I'm watchin' films and live concerts in true DD 5.1 or dts (dts rules!). I hope you know what they are ;D. now I' m using only a stereo jack, it works but I want more. so, is it possible to get true digital signal by optical spdif? if yes, can u tell me step by step how to do ?

I thank you all forever

My Audigy 2 Platinum is connected  out via Optical s/pdif to a Standalone Receiver or proper Speakers that have built-in 5.1 Decoders. and does light DD and DTS 5.1 Sound from the disk or file source. Linux has the Drivers for that Creative, so your good to go. How are you setup and what Linux Player are you using for the Playback?
Just connect and go into the Player Audio Preferences and select something like AC2/DTS S/PDIF Pass-through and restart Player and select your Source and all should work.  I am not in here, unfortunately, but for just a few days from tme to time, which I do hope will improve very soon, but I'll try to check back soon for your reply. Good Luck. :) Oh yes, I agree........DTS rules and now DTS-HD is already the Future. 8)

hi zard, glad to met ya :D ! well I got an old soundblaster live inside the pc case which has on the back 3 mini stereo jax and s-pdif and the audigy 2 NX usb. I remember that maybe mplayer has what you said, the ac3/dts s-pdif passthrough, not kaffeine. I use kaffeine till now. yeah, I must try once again. sometimes I got no will to try again. I'll keep u updated, right ? thanx a lot, dear friend. see ya

Hi bongeorge. Welcome to Granular Linux, nice and friendly in all respects, looks terrific too and I'm certainly glad to meet you too. Nice icon. ;)

Got that Sound working yet? Kaffeine has a "Pass Through" Setting under "Audio" within the "xine Engine Parameters", so that along with alsa Driver option works for Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS with the proper codecs. is21

Kind Regards
