I have been wanting to try K-3D but there is no Mandriva rpm for it... and I'm horrible at compiling from source :P I haven't the patience to even read on how to go about it. But I am very interested in trying this as it looks like a great app.
So... whenever you get the chance.. no hurry (do it now)........ What?? No, I didn't hear anything (do it now).... I'm telling you, I don't hear the voice ;D

Ahhh, the power of subliminal messaging :D

 :D :D

Ok I'll take a look at it.

 ;D thanks Chris...

Looking at the screenshots,  K-3D looks interesting. I am sure Chris is going to get excited about this. ;)

chrisz on March 26, 2008, 04:37:47 AM
Yep you are correct Anurag, and I am working on it now. I think we will be able to get it, it's just the packages
gemini usually wants, are the tough ones. Right now I am working on the rendering engine. Yep it will need the
engine compiled as well.   ;D I'll keep you guys up to date.

When I was young, I was told to pick something I liked to do, and strive to excel at it... I chose being a pain in the butt ;D  How am I doing so far?

Thanks Chris... You're awesome! I urge you to call in these favors on me when you're ready ;)

No problem, aqsis which is the rendering engine is done. So now I am starting with k3d. Also there are quite a few dependencies when looking
at everything put together. So this may take a little bit to get done.  ;)

gemini,

Now I'm working on python, one of the many dependencies, and hopefully it will go well. It's also an upgrade so we'll see.
Then hopefully I can get to the actual package after that.  ;)

Chris

Ok I forgot to mention emacs too.  :D

Ok emacs, and python are done, we're gettin there.  ;)

Gemini on March 27, 2008, 05:47:02 AM
 Wow... you're quick :o

I had noticed it's quite a dependancy pig. I was searching all over the net, and did find "some" sort of Mandriva rpms for it, but one kept leading into another, etc., etc.. For each new rpm I tried to install, it would tell me it needed the last one I tried to install, which told me that I needed this one to install it... :P
My head began to spin.. I threw up.... then went to bed :D Who needs alcohol when you can just play round with a few dependancies for an hour and get the same result :D

chrisz on March 28, 2008, 11:13:58 PM
Well gemini there is no way I can get it, hehe  ;D

That might actually get ya, depending on if you checked your email first. It's done, got it to build last night.
I will need to do a little testing tonight, need to make sure this thing will install and run. But I think it's good,
and will try to upload it for Anurag to put into the repos.

And yes there are several packages that had to be built to make this thing work. So hopefully it will help to
produce some nice graphics.  :D

gemini,

Here are a couple of shots of it, just if you were curious. Also it seems to install, and run fine, so I will upload it for Anurag to test,
and put it out there so you can install it.

Anurag,

Even though this thing was a real pain to package, I would say gemini does know how to pick'em. It seems like a really cool little
program.

 Chris... you are AWESOME!!
Shots look great, can't wait to test ;D
 Thank you very, very much

chrisz on March 29, 2008, 02:30:48 AM
No problem, I hope it works out for you. Especially with the amount of time it took to package. Makes you at hope that it
at least ends up being useful, or helpful. Not to mention, the last couple you have suggested have never made it to the
repos.  ;D

K-3D will be moved to the repo within the next few hours. So Gemini, behold, here comes K-3D. ;)
