You know, the other thing about gOS.

The creators keep insisting there is NO connections to Google.

That may well be the case, but you don't have to be a rocket scientist to work out, that Google would love all that cookie imformation being sent there way via all those tailor made Google apps.

I mean seriously, Google will be licking their proverbial chops at the thought that they have an 'unofficlal' OS with a stack of Google Apps sending them tons of user profiles...

And those Wallmart gOS machines?

They're a marketers/strategists dream...

gOS is not a linux distro.. it is a predater.. i've tried with one week and discard it.. however it has a merit on it side...A hardward vendor who is willing to put  money on it, even when Dell itself sell linux with  halfhearted attempt only..it changed perceptions of  many people who think linux is some sort of command line nightmare, with a lusty green giant sized poster and web banner..
so after trying with it I see some people are now asking whether better than it available? and mandriva flash  , now taiwan's linpus linux are scoring some points among the linux noobs..however among regular user this type of OS has no effects... In future there may be two groups of Linux users will exist.. those they who like bloated ones, and other a simpleton  such as gOS,puppy,DSL etc.,  later may have some great following from the windows world..

Oh Viathy, I had images in my mind of a Predator in a titanic struggle with Arnold Schwarzenegger.... ;D

As regards to Dell...bah...

I've given up on them ever switching to Linux.

They (Dell) virtually get all their Windows OEM for nothing...so why should they bother...?

I just went over to take a look and was not able to get it to start downloading. I did look at what they had to say about the OS and find it really strange that the software is all web based. There are times when a lot of people have connection problems or are not at home or at a place they can get wifi. I don't care how pretty, or fast the system runs, if my laptop can't connect I want to be able to work. Other problem is all those evil people that might hack into a web based system and alter or steal information. MY opinion is that if Google wants to strike back at MS they should go at it but do it right.                                                         edited for grammar and spelling error

Yeah, the opinions of gOS vary with people, but I personally think it's a goody for those who enjoy non-stop broadband Internet connection.

Just a little correction with your saying. gOS is NOT developed by Google. But the developers of gOS just found it worth putting all those Google apps on the desktop to increase functionality. ;)

I would love a Broadband connection, but unfortunately here in Oz, we have one of the most expensive broadbands in the World.

Eg Minimum cost $30. Plus line connect $20 per month..

Total $50 per month..

And how much download does this get you?

2 gigabytes per month.. :-\

We have a similar situation in India too. I get just 2.5 GB download/upload limit on my average speed broadband.  :P

Well, I've had gOS for a good 30 minutes now, and it's not exactly what I am normally used to. It's nice I suppose, but it leaves out a lot of things that should come standard w/ a linux distro, such as wine....lol wow, I just had a error pop up, something about Enlightenment...I just clicked recover, and everything seems to be okay. The people who made gOS did a good attempt to make a easy to use distro, but I don't see this distro taking off any time soon, or even existing in the next 5 years. Granular, on the other hand, seems to have a very bright future ahead of it ;D
