I am about 99.9 % sure I can build an rpm for you. I will see what I can do as far as getting it built. We will still
need to get Anurag to find out if he wants to add it to the repo. He might not because of new granular build  ;D

If that's the case send me a pm with an e-mail I can send rpms to.

vaithy,

Ok this is not a problem. I have already built the rpms. And they install fine. We will just have to
wait to talk to Anurag, to see what he wants to do.

Chris, just upload the rpms to the server. I'll put it in the repo. Apps like these are surely going to be a unique aspect of our repo.  ;D

Hi chiris and Anurag !!! thanks you all the developers who are doing such selfless services  to spread the fame of Linux and other Opensources Movement..I am not a techie but a accountant who don't know anything about computer programming...it is better to put the RPM in the repo instead of forwarding to me.. since it is beneficial to all who love Linux.. :D

It's a sure thing Vaithy, we'll put the rpm in the repo.

No problem Vaithy, and thanks for the nice compliments. It's really appreciated.
Also I have a couple of things going on right at the moment. I will upload the rpms
to our ftp server in about an hour or so. Thanks for your patience.

Vaithy,

I uploaded the build to the ftp server. Please treat this as a testing build, in other words it's not perfect.
I noticed last night while testing that the install is not updating the kickoff menu. So to start the program
just enter in f4l either in a terminal, or at the top of the kickoff menu in search type f4l. It will bring up the
run command to start the program. I will fix the menu install and upload another build as soon as it's done.
Just wanted you to be able to use the program if you needed it. It seems to run fine, but I also do not have
any experience with flash animation. So please let me know how it works.

I'll update the repo with this package at night.  :)

vaithy on December 29, 2007, 06:19:53 PM
Sure I'll wait for it..I am yet to update my system (though I added granular repo with main and test option I didn't up date to new kernel)
The experience of PCLOS crashing twice after updated still in the mind..
 waiting for granular-2008

Done. F4L is in the test section of repo now, Vaithy. :)

From what I've seen so far in this app, this is a really cool app, the interface is much like that of the primitive Flash Studio. But of course, in the end, the credit goes to Chris for packaging it wonderfully. There is only a small glitch (which Chris mentioned earlier) die to which F4L isn't installed in the menu, that's why it is in the test section. But Chris and I will work out on this soon.

chrisz on December 30, 2007, 06:22:57 AM
I am still working on the new build, as I think the installation into the kickoff menu is an absolute must. I am not sure,
and I have tried coding it several different ways to make the installation work. But they just don't seem to wanna play
nice together. But who knows, it's probably the most simple mistake. Or the simplest thing missing. At least that's what
it usually is, then you cant believe you could miss something so simple.  :D

Anurag,

If you can look at it, and if you see a simple mistake please let me know. I also agree, I kinda like the program. It could actually
be useful. Something to consider though, is the projects future is uncertain. I was reading on their website, they were having some
legal issues due to flash being in the name. So the project development was on hold for now.

I'll definitely have a look at the rpm. Maybe the .desktop isn't there? Or it isn't mentioned in the spec file or a patch or a diff? As you know the .desktop is used to provide the menu entry for KMenu, KBFX, and Kickoff.

About having the word "Flash" in it's name, I don't think it should be a great concern for the project as, after all, flash is open source, but we'll still keep an eye on this project.

Anurag Bhandari on December 30, 2007, 09:19:34 AM
Ok, I just checked it out and found no mention of a .desktop creation of this package. Chris, I'll send you a self prepared .desktop later in the day. Stay tuned.
