This is the right place to post your wallpapers to be deployed in the next version of Granular. Feel free to even express your own original ideas or your thoughts about the already submitted wallpapers.

I think it's time to really clean up the logo. and produce a couple of original sets of icons?? This is why I posted all those new wallpapers to show a really clean look to the logo.
If anyone wants the .xar file for it for Xara (either the windows or linux versions) let me know

geminiguy, the next release of Granular will come with the previous logo only. Maybe we can try using some new logos for the next-to-next release. :)

geminiguy,

I agree that a cleaned up logo, would look great. Maybe something 3d, glossy, and just sharp looking. And from seeing
everything in the gallery you have created, a new logo would be great but.....

I have to also agree with anurag. Our timing is off. We have been compiling things like crazy, (for new release) and everything we have
built has the current logo. So the only way we could change it would be to re-compile everything we have already done.
And that would take a huge amount of time. The current logo is compiled in everything from the kernel, all the way through
kde.

Chris

Ahhh, I see. Sorry I came too late with all of this. There is "a lot" on both you gentlemen's part that I don't know or understand. I also have not made any contact with SommU to see what's going on, I was supposed to get back to him but I have been a bit hectic lately :)
Well, my apologies.... maybe on the next round then :D

sommu on January 18, 2008, 01:07:56 PM
well maybe enchantting the logo would be fine but i dont think changing it would be a good thing..  if u change logo on every release wouldnt ppl just be confused? maybe it would be nice to have alittle change once in a while but i think just enchanting the logo would do the trick rather than changing its shape..

Anurag Bhandari on January 18, 2008, 01:13:48 PM
Yes SommU, you are quite right. I agree with you in this. For at least 2-3 more releases, we should try to enhance the current logo.

Gemini on January 18, 2008, 03:17:49 PM
That's basically all that was done on the "cleaner" smoother version I have been showing. It's an enhancement. The logo remains the same, just tuned-up. ;) The chiseled edge can either remain or go, but using a bevel in one form or another gives a very nice depth to it.
I love the logo and feel it should never "change" but have felt it could use some polishing up from the first time I saw it. It's a very unique logo :) I also want to make sure that everyone has the original font for the text which Anurag posted a while back, as this is just as much part of the Granular identity.

Yeah, geminiguy. You are right too.  ;D

sommu on January 18, 2008, 08:30:33 PM
well gemini ur kinda right But i dont agree that its enchanted.. since that does wipe out the idea behind it.. it had penguin heads around the ball and now it Really looks more and more flower which i was afraid when i first made the logo.. that logo u made from it looks good but i just kinda think taking the idea away isnt good..

Gemini on January 19, 2008, 02:58:51 AM
OK, maybe we can get together and come up with an "in the middle" look? Actually now, it looks like a whole pingu body?? :P :D
BTW, did you get that ai I sent you?? Did it work?

Anurag Bhandari on January 19, 2008, 07:52:55 AM
I am anxious to see the outcome.  ;D

SommU is quite right in saying the the original ideology behind the logo should not be revamped. So, the challenge lies ahead you guys. I am sure you both will come with something interesting.  :D

sommu on January 19, 2008, 09:46:08 PM
did you get that ai I sent you?? Did it work?

If u ment me.. i guess not.. atleast i dont know what u mean by ai

Gemini on January 20, 2008, 12:59:18 AM
Oh, sorry SommU, yes I meant "you" :D

I emailed you an .ai file (you use illustrator don't you??) or one of the Adobe products?? I want to make sure we can transfer work between us, as I use xara & inkscape. Mostly xara

sommu on January 20, 2008, 11:32:10 AM
