Just to add my opinion to this, even though I am sure you guys don't need it. It sounds as if you have it all worked
out anyway.

I love the original logo. I do think it could be touched up, but I would say again that I really like the original logo. And
what it stands for, and the ideas behind it. If we come up with slightly different logos that have more of a flower look,
couldn't we use those for specific things. Like a specific app, or maybe the forum, like new signatures. That way the
hard work behind them does not go to waste as well. We also have several splash screen compiled with our system,
maybe for the new releases to come, we could look into adding them for each different app.

Not to add any confusion, just wanted to share my thoughts. Hope you guys don't mind. It also appears to be a tough
debate, only because you guys are all right.  ;) So I think the real way to work around it, is to work together.  ;D

Good luck with it, I also cannot wait to see the results.  :D :D And you guys have seen my graphics, so you know why I
am so anxious.

Chris

I agree. I like the original logo, and I remembered it being said the "flag or petal" looking pieces are in the shape of a penuin's head. I cleaned it up on my own accord, but it was not a real lot of work so no big deal. I actually think now it looks like an entire penguin's pudgy body ;D
SommU designed the original, and it should definitely remain. I only wish there were some vector images to work with instead of only rasters.
If there is to be a couple people working on these items, the vector images should be available to all involved. This greatly reduces time in "slicing & cutting out shapes" and  reduces the "fuzziness" of the image in re-works.
If Granular desires a professional look, it cannot be achieved with raster images such as jpeg, png, bmp, etc. being the only items to work with. SOme of the earlier pieces I did, were made by cutting out one of the penguin heads from an existing wallpaper and doing my best to clean it up around the edges, then reproducing it. (which created the "jagged" look to it when I implemented bezels and highlights)

Actually.. i rarely use vectors cause.. im kinda stupid and lazy... But i do have around 8000x8000px version of the logo in psd

Gemini on January 21, 2008, 08:25:04 AM
reduce the PIX & send me the PSD ;D............ (please)

on another note... how do you design and use a logo in reworks without a vector file?? :-\ It's just a bit unusual... ::)

sommu on January 21, 2008, 08:34:29 AM
ok i can send it later today when i get home..  hmmn.. i think u ran 2 fast and i got lost in the path... :D i just do the stuff and thats it? :D

Gemini on January 21, 2008, 10:14:30 AM
just wondering if this is any better?? The penguin head is definitely appearent here, nice and clean. Any thoughts?

sommu on January 21, 2008, 11:06:34 AM
the nose looks alittle like hawks nose i think.. ?

Gemini on January 21, 2008, 03:50:20 PM
You work for the audubon society or somethin'?? :D
Just kidding... I can fix the beak... but I'd like to know if the  cleaner / smoother edges work for you. This is basically what I'm trying to accomplish... to smooth out the over-all image. Definitely want to maintain the pingu-head shape... but with a smoother touch to it ;)
You are right about the beak though BTW. I beat this poor little penguin's head all night getting the rest of it to the proper shape  :o
Uh-oh... here come the animal rights activists "shhhhh"  ::)

Hi,
can anybody here convert the Granular vector logo to SVG? It would be very helpful for me as I use Inkscape and do not have XARA (I often work on Win computers and Xara for Win is not free while Inkscape is free and does not need installation on Win :-) )

thanks

Here are some logos you could use:

http://www.granularproject.org/content/granuminati/logos/GRANULAR%202008%20logo%20items.tar.gz
http://www.granularproject.org/content/granuminati/logos/GRANULAR%20Logo%20svg%20Project%20Sept%208%202008.zip

Of these, I suggest using the second ones. Now, well, the source files in these are still in .xar format. But Gemini should be having the SVG as well. He will help you out with it soon.
