Yup, it sure looks good. You have made me a fan of it.  ;D

Well, the previous 3D wallpaper you saw is also good, if you see the 3D rendering aspect of it.  :)

Well well.. now look whos talking...  ;D firstly.. the Light is 2 bright.. thats obvius and the floor plane suddenly ends which doesnt look good and personally i think that the colors wont fit..  together.. looks very retro type of renderin..

I like them both, most especially since they are way better than anything I could do.

Nevertheless, i hope you don't mind my adding a wish to your art work..

What I'd like to see is more of a Ruby Glass like transparancy to the Granular Linux Logo.

That would make it more lickable... 8)

Cheers

Sommu, I do like your rendition of Roger Nurick's 3d wallpaper, and I think you've got talent, but what takes me back a bit (and please correct me if I am mistaken, or taking you the wrong way) I don't care much for one artist, blatantly insulting another artist's work by using such words as "terrible"
I think promoting your work by insulting other's and repeatedly announcing your's as "better", etc. is a wrong approach. We are here to share, not compare ;)
I post my work, to share it with others, I never put much thought into whether anyone will like it or not. As I have said, I'm not here to compete.
And, again... if I am mis-understanding or taking your comments on a couple of posts the wrong way, I fully apologize, and this comment should be disregarded. :) Also, please do not take this as an attack of any kind (most everyone who knows me from other areas know I am not that way) But do please take it as some helpful advice ;)

Regards
geminiguy

well.. as i know a thing or 2 about 3d rendering i can say theres many things way off in hes work.. and ok maybe terrible was quite strong way to put it but thats how i see it.. Not just because i dont like it overall ( and that reason is actually the colors i dont think they work well together plus i think they are way 2 light Because of 2 bright light source ) But also because technically theres so much to correct in it..

That's pretty impressive by my standards.

Now if it were red and tranparent..

I really don't know how to explain other than to say imagine looking at something like this...only more obviously "granular'

Well in this case to get this effect the logo should be done in 3d.. And the problems start there, see the logo would be just roughly extruded as in with the first wallpaper posted under this topic.. and if i make that look like glass it looks very plain and not even that much glass.. so i would have to change the logo appearance alot which means making the Sides of the logo round and with that i could have nice glassy look on the logo but i fear it would look 2 different but i will try that as soon as i can which is prolly quite soon  ;)

I hate it that i have to write so long stuff but i need alot of words to express what i want to say  :o

SommU,

I saw your latest glassy wallpaper of the Granular logo. I like it  :) (more because the background color you chose matched the grey theme of Granular and it's perfectly appealing). A word of advice here could be to introduce more transparent effect, like some shiny-shiny stuff overall to make it look more like a glass. I am not able to completely express myself, but you should get the idea.

What geminiguy said is also true and I hope (in fact I know) that in future you won't be extreme in your sayings. But being extreme is not bad at all. I know that you were trying to be completely honest at that moment, but sometimes words have two different meanings. Anyway, don't take this very seriously (in fact, not at all seriously) and proceed with your innovative work.  8)

Well ive actually got into "trouble" in the past for saying things right the way i see them and i even use quite powerfull words to simply put it.. cause otherwise i need many lines of text to say all that..

And thats prolly the reason why i dont usually post much aobut other ppls work cause it might get quite intense after what i said..  :P

The idea is not to discourage or blame you SommU. It's just that we ought to live like a community. And I am sure you are up to the mark in this respect.  ;D

Yea thats what ur saying now...  ::)
_____

Hey angelfire i did.. well i suppose this could be called sketch..
It has alot of surface _errors_ but i just wanted to make sure if this is what u ment before i continue.. but ive been quite sure from the start that this is what u were looking for

The reason the left _Penguin head_ (if someone didnt know.. well now u do..) and the bottom one are alittle smaler than the 2 other is cause of the angle..

That's awesome Sommu, any chance of making the center sphere round too?? Then, it would be perfect. (I gotta start playin with some 3D) I have Blender & Povray with a bunch o plugins..... Maybe I'll start messin with it :)
Are you making full 3D models of these so they can be rotated to any desired degree?? I'm thinking it may be a good idea for both of us to get some CAD software. There are a few really nice free ones for Linux

sommu on November 29, 2007, 06:46:11 PM
Theres no chance i would do that.. i think it looks just silly, it can be alittle round but only as wide as the penguin heads are..

Well im 2 simpleminded to use linux.. plus all the good 3d softwares are in windows And u cant have photoshop in linux.. :)  and yes it is in 3d.

Here it is in 3d.. 2 bad that my computer sucks.. i had to put all the settings very low.. and still it lagged alot :D u notice it when i rotate the camera and the logo turns into wireframe till it loads it again..
