Time is nearing to the 1st anniversary of release of the first ever version of Granular. For everyone's information, Granular first version, 0.12, was released publicly on 31st December, 2006. Let come 31st Dec, 2007, and Granular would be 1 year old.

And that's the reason of starting this contest. All you have to do is design and submit (here) a standard size banner image for the 1st birthday of Granular.
For banner sizes, check here: http://www.bannercreator.nu/banner-size.html
For Granular logos, check here: http://www.granularlinux.com/forum/index.php?topic=300.msg1437

Note: Don't forget to put a cute line in the banner that says something like "1st Anniversary" or "One year of existence" or anything like that.

Thanks for the great and overly gracious compliments guys... it's nice to know the work is enjoyed :) My morals require me to be humble and stop there... but the artist in me is completely eatin it all up... :P
Thanks again

Cheers

Very, very nice work Sommu :)  I like this from every perspective. And the concept is excellent. It is "perfect".

At first i was thinking it was lacking something but actually it is quite effecting for a banner.. it says "granular linux" and from that ppl can think "aah linux..." and click.. but this banner would have failed if it only had Granular in it.. Ok that could have been "ok" but when there are things that ppl know and as much information as u can put there u can get more and more ppl interested about that..

so up till now i havent really found anything i would want to change in it.. But i prolly will  ::)
I usually watch the work i have done every now and then and sooner or later ill found something to fix or something that doesnt feel so good anymore..

____

Actually i have already started to think i dont like the text color being so white.. maybe something alittle more metallic...

I think, if it were animated.... i.e. have the red flags, leaves??? (Say... what the heck are those anyway?? ;D) Anyway, have those thingy's wavin like flags... and have the entire scene slide in from the right to the left... then have the two words appear, first "Granular... and then "Linux"... and it would be AWESOME

but, then again ... I'm psychotic :P

That's really very creative. I like it.

Sommu,

I like that one. My first impression is that it represents the system as a whole. I think you did a nice job of putting everything into that small of a space. Nice work.

I was actually thinking of that.. well im not much of an animator so i didnt even try to do anything but i guess i could try.. maybe not any "wind" effect but i had in my mind to have some effect on the text

The banner is looking good, except it does not say something like "One year of existence" or "Happy 1st Birthday" or "1st Anniversary". Don't you think?  ;)
