I have another submission that I would like to submit for the contest. Credit also goes to Geminiguy for his permission to incorporate the grey swoop graphic he created. Sincerely, Roger Nurick

Extremely well done, Roger!  :D ;D 8)

I am impressed. It seems that if you are determined to do something, you always do it. That's a great spirit in you. Keep it up.

P.S.: Some may say that the image is a bit coarse/pixelated, but I think it was a deliberate effort by you to make it look nice, and believe me, it does!

Its hard to compete with ur comments anurag.. but i can say that theres only one thing that i hate about it and its the bar that has gradient from black to white which goes from left to right .. otherwise the banner is good and the animation is nice also.. but as i did with my own banners.. maybe u could try to add more color.. the logo itself is quite colorfull but it is alittle... well i dont know good word to discribe it.. but maybe some color would cheer it up

Roger..... WOW!! :o ;D I love all of it, especially the rolling logo (that's the coolest part of it) ;)

Roger I equally like it, very nice work.

Not sure yet on the "Happy First Birthday" saying though, I think it's growing on me.
I like something like "Proud To Be One" that can be implied in a couple of different way.

But please don't take my comments to heart, as they are just my opinion. And I do think the
banner is great.  ;D

The last week of December has started and it's time to announce the winner of the 1st anniversary banner contest. Though it was a difficult task ahead of me to take the decision, but remember this is a contest, right?

And the winner is - Roger Nurick for his last submission which is quite suitable to the theme of Granular. Here's the banner:

December 31st will be the 1st birthday of Granular and on that very day, you'll see the  banner put on near the top of the forum. But some other submissions, including the SommU ones, will be utilized in the Granular Project website, primarily for the 1st anniversary announcement to be made.

Congrats Roger!  :D

SommU & Roger, you both did a very good job. =)

Time is nearing to the 1st anniversary of release of the first ever version of Granular. For everyone's information, Granular first version, 0.12, was released publicly on 31st December, 2006. Let come 31st Dec, 2007, and Granular would be 1 year old.

And that's the reason of starting this contest. All you have to do is design and submit (here) a standard size banner image for the 1st birthday of Granular.
For banner sizes, check here: http://www.bannercreator.nu/banner-size.html
For Granular logos, check here: http://www.granularlinux.com/forum/index.php?topic=300.msg1437

Note: Don't forget to put a cute line in the banner that says something like "1st Anniversary" or "One year of existence" or anything like that.
Can I know what is the standard size of Custom banner when you are making this kind of banner? By the way, thanks for the information that you have been shared.

You can check out the user-submitted banners for this contest to get an idea about what kind of size was required:
