Just my opinion but I really like it. One questions though, instead of animating the whole thing. Would it be possible to animate just the "1st Anniversary"
Something subtle. Again I like it the way that it is, maybe my curiosity is getting the best of me.  :P

I am submitting my entry into Granular's First Birthday contest and I first want to say a big thanks to Geminiguy for his permission to incorporate his 'grey swoop' design I wanted to use as a background for my entry (If the design wins, I'll split the winnings with you!)

I am truly excited to have a part in this great and artistic community, and to have the opportunity to display some of my artwork for an appreciative and honest audience, while learning from all of you in the process. Not to mention that we're also using the very 'BEST' Linux distribution available today. I'm sure you'd all agree with that.

One other thing: I came up with a catch phrase (and I hope like heck that it wasn't plagiarized somewhere!) that I added to the banner because it really felt right right for some reason, and I'd like to get your feedback on it:

"Moving at the speed of...'wow.'"

Maybe not the most original choice of words ever, and perhaps maybe even a little play on the "The 'Wow' starts now"? For that matter, as far as I'm concerned, the 'real' 'Wow' started a year ago, and is celebrating it's first birthday. Happy Birthday Granular!

With that said, let me step down off the 'virtual soap box', wrap my comments up, and say: here's to everyone in the Granular community and may be the best entry win!

Sincerely, Roger Nurick

Roger, yours is the kind of banner I was looking for. It has everything needed to make it feel like a first anniversary banner. But, yes, I do agree with you that the tag like could have been different, other than "Moving at the speed of...'wow.'", as that could spark a hot debate among some fanatics. Don't you think?

You know, you're probably right. It's one thing to be enthusiastic, it's another in trying not to step on toes, not that that was my intention. I'll go back and try again. Thanks for the feedback.

I reworked the banner and removed the catch-phrase and I would like to add enter this design entry for your contest. If it should win, please be sure to give Geminiguy credit as well since he gave me permission to incorporate his 'grey swoop' as a background element. Sincerely, Roger Nurick

If the size is too large, here's a reduced sized one. Sincerely, Roger Nurick

They both look really nice Anurag... You've got a tough decision to make there ;D

Roger,
This one is fantastic, but I miss the white glow around the Granular logo, on the extreme right, as it was there in your original submission.

geminiguy,
Yes, you are right. I have a tough decision to make. But as of now, I personally feel the Roger's banner has all the needed elements.

I re-added a 'glow' effect around the Granular logo you mentioned you liked, and I also discovered a nice filter effect in GIMP to achieve another stylized around the circle and 1. Sincerely, Roger Nurick

Hmm... I think the banner without the supernova filter looks more professional. Anyway, nice to see the white glow back again.
