I was screwing around with wallpapers, and this is a couple. I have come to realize I am no graphic artist  :D :D :D :D

Hello Chris,
I think they're fine ;) Although, would you be kind enough to post these, as well as any further pieces in the gallery? ;D And, I do hope, (and expect) to see more from you. Please don't say you are no graphic artist, I like to remind people that "art" comes from within, and anyone can do it.... Be proud of your work, don't down yourself :)

Wonderful work, Chris  ;D. The black one is brilliant. I am sorry to say, but you ARE an artist.  ;)

Also, do co-operate with Geminiguy too because what he said is right.

geminiguy,

I've got some other stuff but it's not done yet. Been working on the new kernel with Anurag almost non-stop. As soon as we have a kernel available to test in the repo
I will finish those.

How about you , I think I have seen some of your work over at pclos. Got anything new you are working on??

Chris

Chris, I'm glad to hear there's to be more comming from you. And, yes... you are right. But not so much PCLOS as "MyPCLOS"... I am actually the lead graphic designer for the Edu~LOS project there, as well as the lead of the revised Beautification team there :) I am always working on something, I love art and it runs in my blood... I come from a long line of artists and actually only began to dive into the computer end of it about 1/2 a year ago ;D
I hope to bring a really strong presence and flow of art to this community too (that is my goal) This is my way of giving back to communities, as I am not a dev (although I'm working at expanding my knowledge in a few areas) To me, one of the most attractive items to any community, even in an operating system, is the art involved.... (and not just wallpapers) I see art everywhere, I consider the way a program / application is written as art too.... just a different form.
I love to see people (like yourself) who are part of a communty, and who want to give back... do it in which ever way they like. And it's nice when someone like Anurag and his mates shares his art (Granular) with all of us, receives gifts in return in appreciation, like beautiful art to show off / compliment their work ;D
And, yes... I am just as passionate about Granular, as I am about PCLinuxOS ;) I have been through them all (pretty much) and these two are just "it" for me... (aside from only two others I fully enjoy) which is Solaris 10 (which I know is a whole different story) and TeenPup as it is put together very nicely and is great for my son (who is getting into art as well now)
Anyway... sometimes my answers are long-winded but... that is just me ::) I look forward to seeing more of your work, as well as hoping to see other members joining in as well... I hope not to hear anymore of anyone not posting any art they do,(as long as it's "clean" and proper...) in fear of it not being good enough, etc..... That which may not be very attractive to one, may very well be attractive to another, and who cares anyway?? As long as "YOU" are proud of it ;)
And, don't forget to give Xara LX a try... it is very, very simple to get the nack for..... :)
See ya in the gallery

geminiguy,

Thanks for the very nice reply, spoken exactly how it should be. I agree with everything you are talking about, except from the the other end of it.
I have been around linux in general since about 97, or 98, and I truly love it. I like working with just about everything, but I see the art in a program or a kernel. I appreciate the challenge of compiling the thing, and then running it as well. Which can be as much of a challenge as well. I also like it here at granular, and feel very much at home here. Guessing due to Anurag, and Merlin. Granular will grow into something special, and I anticipate it to become very big. I only see us as missing two things, one our own kernel, and two our own repos. For the kernel, we have compiled 2.6.22, and now our own 2.6.23. .22 turned out ok, but .23 is looking like it's going to be a very nice kernel. As for the repos, Anurag has set up our own repo, that is just waiting for packages to be uploaded into it. We have help from Merlin, who has started packaging some rpms. And my intentions will be to begin packaging rpms as soon as the kernel is done. I honestly believe that granular will be one of the distro's of tomorrow. As soon as we have more people realize what we have here, I think we might grow very fast. So in the end I will contribute as much as I possibly can, as I cannot wait to see granular at the top of the charts.  ;D ;D ;D
