How right you are :) I've now installed FW, installed the Nvidia drivers and am able to post this from Looking Glass.
Thank you.

Although Looking Glass is in its initial stages, we hope you really like all those 3D effects it has to offer.  :)

It's fun to play with but I'm having one particular problem that I don't where to ask for help. I can bring up the terminal but can't type anything into it (and, yes, it was in focus). The cursor flashes but nothing else happens. I can type into Firefox so it's not the keyboard. Any ideas? Thanks.

Try using Looking Glass's own terminal.

That's the one I'm talking about.

LG3D's terminal works fine on my PC and laptop. Don't know why it isn't working with your configuration... May be that's a bug in LG3D itself.

Today it's working OK :) I've searched the LG3d bugs and found that there may be a problem because I'm using and AMD 64 processor. I suppose that I really can't expect much at this early stage but it's an interesting and fun activity and I managed to get kopete running from the terminal OK. Thank you for adding this development.

Dunsurfin.

I want to thank you on behalf of the Granular Team.

By using Looking Glass, your in effect, one of the many testers.

As you may have read from other posts of mine, I actually think LookingGlass has a greater future than Beryl etc.

From my perspective, (as a Mac and Windows user) LG is effectiverly the Linux equivilant of the 3d directions that both OS X and Vista are taking.

So even though it is early days...I see a bright future ahead for both Granular & LG.

Cheers once again.

Let's see. . . .

LG 3D, KDE style configuration, and multiple desktops.  Hmmm.

Yeah, I could go for that.

It will be very interesting to see what happens with Looking Glass in the near future.  Their last release (which is really just a demo) is from January 07.  Perhaps there is something new in the pipeline?

Certainly hope so.

Glassworks, deserves more attention from the Linux community. As I stated in the opening of this topic, I believe the other 3D functionalities are rather limited in their usefulness.

Furthemore, Glassworks is about the closest that the Linux/Unix/Solaris community have to what is being pushed in OS X and Vista.

From this perspective, it has a valuable and important future.

Let's hope other Linux developers pitch in with the work.
