Just in case anyone not connected with development hasn't noticed, Unity has just released their first release candidate. This is the Distrowatch link:
http://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=unityThings seem to be moving along at a rapid rate although not nearly as rapidly as we all would like.
KDE 4.4.1 is in the repository. While it isn't exactly the huge leap forward I'd imagined, it does seem to be pretty slick and adds a few new features and fixes that weren't available in 4.3. (I downloaded and installed the PCLinuxOS Beta just to check out 4.4.x)
At the moment I'm happily running MEPIS 8.5 64 bit RC2. It is very stable, but it will probably go final with KDE 4.3.5. No doubt Warren will take a few more weeks to upgrade to 4.4. But who knows? He's surprised folks before with a very rapid transition to new stuff.
My only complaint is that the catalog of final 64 bit KDE distros running 4.4 is very, very slim. Like none of them. Although a few are in the alpha or beta stages. Alas . . . one can only wait and bite fingernails.
