Hi all!

Tried Granular1 in Feb 2009,but it could not suspend  & hibernate on my hardware despite trying another kernels.
So presently using PCLOS 2009 Gnome.

Waiting eagerly for Granular 2.

Meanwhile want to get cleared regarding what functions  most probably will never be included in kde4.
I think it is something like 'advanced audio & video editing',but now videos with 'kdenlive' are available on YouTube.

Will anybody pl.  precisely mention for whom kde4 is not.I am not a pro but for everybody it is better to know what we should not expect from kde4.

Regards.

Hi,

Well KDE is for everyone. Although KDE will not be including Advanced Video and Audio applications,
but those application are never included in any desktop environment.
If you haven't tried the new KDE 4.3, then do so, as the previous KDE 4 releases lacked the complete
application set, its so because of the development cycle, so now KDE 4 is almost complete
all the main application are there and stable.

So again KDE is always for everyone.

For more information on exactly what KDE offers you might try the KDE web site here:  http://www.kde.org/

Thanks      Yatin & Galjaman

Trying PCLOS KDE 4.3.2 on test partition.

Before @1.5 years tried 4.0.1,now it has improved a lot.
Then too it was said before 1 year that  kde4 being cross platform, it will not be having full integration as a specially designed DE will have for a particular hardware or environment .So @ 10% of people, who are having specific requirements, should not switch over to it;hence posted it.But nothing of this kind is mentioned at http://www.kde.org/

Once again thanks for the reply.

You are most welcomed Jag.
For a good experience of KDE 4.3 i would recommend
Mandriva Linux 2010 or openSuSE 11.2

jag, for my opinion kde 4 is the worsest and i< never ever again will use any distro who uses kde 4. I is hard to configure, it is alot less good then kde 3.5, kde 3.5 was really good and easy configurable, I tried a few time to use kde 4 and just don`t get along with it, so thats it.
Also it is extreemly slow, Gnome desktop is very fast and my favoite Desktop and i< can configure it as my liking.
This is my opinion, but everybody likes something different.
Enlightment is a nice desktop too, but never kde 4

ilanesh,

You should try the latest release of KDE 4 - v4.4. You'll certainly notice some huge changes.
