I once was a distrohopper (Mandrake, Mepis, Xandros, even Knoppix installed)  I then felt I had come home when I found Pclinuxos. I was there from the "ancient" p91 edition and have been loyal ever since, forever telling people about my favourite distro. Lately I have become increasingly disgruntled with Pclinuxos, to the point where I understood that it would be right for me to look elsewhere. It's not necessary to go into my reasons for leaving, but informationflow is a keyword. I still think it's a fantastic distro, but now I'm looking for a similar distro with friendly devs who keep the members informed about what's going on, and who have few secrets from the members. What do you say guys, do you think Granular might be a new potential "home" for me?

Just finished downloading Granular (now seeding) I'll give it a spin but can't install before I have gone through my pclos install thoroughly.

Well if that's what you're looking for, then I'd say you've probably found a home here. But we need to let you be the judge of that. Take a look around the forum here, and interact with the community here. And I'm pretty sure you'll be pretty happy.

We surely don't keep much from our users here, and everyone here, is pretty much treated as equal. So I think you'll like it here.

As far as information. We have a team blog, and there you'll find out what's going on with development. Anurag loves to blog, so just check out his blog, and you'll know what he's been up to. Or most importantly, you could try the old fashioned way. And just ask.  ;)

Welcome to Granular forums, teach. If you have used PCLinuxOS, and liked it, I am sure you'll like Granular too. And you'll find only the friendly people around here, so don't worry. I hope you like your stay here.

there is something I wonder about. What are the  main differences between pclos and Granular. I mean there must be a difference in vision or we could all just stick with pclos. I saw that Granular has support for 5 Indian languages, Kudos for that, I see India as a great potential contributor to Gnu/linux and Granular, but apart from that, other differences in direction? vision?
Is there a thread which cover this?

Teach,

This topic has been covered several times here. Maybe a quick search will get you to the desired thread.

teach,

Yes as Anurag has said it's been covered here so many times, covering it again is tough for us. So for basics they are almost different in every way. From the kernel, to all of kde, and the kde libs. It's all been recompiled by Anurag, or myself to make it our own, and provide our src rpms back to the community. So do a little searching, and you should get a lot to pop up. Also you could take a look at the repos to see the packages that we've compiled for Granular.

We've always kept ourselves as stand alone as we possibly could.  ;)
