So, the final release of Granular 1.0 is around the corner. This releases comes with many bug fixes and improvements over the previous release - RC. Granular 1.0 comes with some little-big surprizes that are set to bring a smile upon your face. ;D

Like the last time, I would like to ask our fellow members to come ahead and make the little contribution by seeding the upcoming ISO torrent release.

The interested ones should express their wish to seed the torrent by making a post here. Before the torrent is released publicly, I'll offer the download link to the potential seeders so they would be able to start seeding as soon as the torrent is released.

Hey guys how is everyone? Well the time is coming soon, and I know you guys have been waiting. And for those of you already offering to seed the release, thank you. I will also, and always seed the releases to help out as much as I can.

But I would ask that anyone who can seed to please help us out here. We have been working on getting this release out non-stop, and we could really use your help now. We need as many people to seed as we can possibly get.

I know all of us on the dev team have worked extremely hard on getting this thing done. So again now we do need your help in getting this thing off of the ground. And we also need to get it out there to as many people as we can. So thanks for helping us out, and when Anurag makes the announcement we hope you truly enjoy the release.

I have sent download links to all the interested guys here (please check your private messages for my message). Please don't share those links with anyone till the announcement is made.

The release announcement will be made tomorrow - 20th January 2009.  :)

Finished the download.  MD5 matches.  Am about to burn a CD.  I'll start seeding as soon as I see the initial seed on Linux Tracker, which I presume will be on Tuesday, right?

It sounds like we'll have quite a few seeding, and I'd like to say thanks again to those who have volunteered.

But I can't stress enough if you willing and able to help us out with seeding, then please do. We are a small dev team that works very hard to get done what we get done. So we need all the help we can get. And with seeding it seems like you can always have more seeders. It just helps sooooo much in getting granular out there for more people to try. So thanks guys.

A happy news - the torrent is out now. So, all of you can start seeding.

Download the torrent

Seeding instructions:
  • Make sure you have downloaded both the files (.iso and .md5sum) from here - http://ftp.nluug.nl/pub/os/Linux/distr/granular/
  • Put both these files into a folder with the exact name Granular-1.0-x86-CD.
  • Now, copy this whole folder to the location where you generally download through torrents, say it is the location/directory called /home/yourname/Downloads. Then copy the folder "Granular-1.0-x86-CD" in this "Downloads" folder.
  • Next, start your favorite BitTorrent client, like uTorrent, KTorrent, etc, open the above downloaded torrent in it, and when asked where to save the contents of torrent, specify the location where the folder "Granular-1.0-x86-CD" is, that is /home/yourname/Downloads in this case.
  • With this, your BitTorrent client till think that the download is 100% complete (as you already have the complete files), so it will start seeding automatically. If not, you'll have to start seeding manually.
  • And that's it! :)

I am also sending all the seeders private messages containing information about this torrent and seeding.

I downloaded and burned it on a cd.
I'm seeding now. I haven't seen any up speed yet.

I'm very excited to try the new release.  ;D

I am seeding too, though I cannot continue during the day time as I face a bandwidth cap every month from my ISP. But I'll surely continue during the night. Dnd I can see you in the seeders.

So, as soon as you guys set the ISO downloaded, please start seeding ASAP.
